About Me
For as long as I can remember, my answer to the question “What animal would you want to be?” has always been “A little bird.” As a child, teenager, and young adult, I desperately yearned for the freedom these little creatures seem to have. Flitting from tree to tree, chirping merrily, and hopping around. Now, I feel like I’ve arrived at that freedom, but my fascination with birds has only grown. I love learning about birds almost as much as I love painting them.
I enjoy learning about birds I can actually see outside the most, which is why most of my art is centered around European Birds. I currently call the lovely city of Nuremberg, Germany, my home. While it definitely has many advantages, city life is not my dream – I hope for a house out in the country, in the best case next to mountains and with a porch or balcony I can go out to sit on and watch the birds in my garden, enjoying the view while sitting in my rocking chair. We’ll see if that dream ever comes true! For now, I’m finding joy in the little things of life. Focusing on the birds that are truly everywhere, even in the city, makes me feel like I am connected more closely to nature.
Having bird art in my home makes me feel a bit more free/reminds me of the freedom I have attained. It grounds me and inspires me. It brings a smile to my face to see a little bird with a hat. My hope is to share these feelings with you through art.
